Who We Are

We are affiliated with The National Exchange Club – a service organization with 700 clubs and approximately 22,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico – will celebrate its 100th anniversary in March 2011. Founded in 1911 in Detroit by businessmen who wanted to “exchange” ideas, the Exchange Club moved its headquarters to Toledo in 1917. For nearly 100 years, its volunteer efforts have supported the needs of the country and of local communities, making it the country’s oldest American service organization operating exclusively in this country.

What Does The Exchange Club Do?

Our club has sponsored a wide range of activities to improve our community, help the extremely disadvantaged and encourage good American citizenship. The principal areas of Exchange's Program of Service are Youth, Americanism, Community Service and our national project, Child Abuse Prevention.

Why Join The Colorado Springs Exchange Club?

To help build a better America, and in doing so, bring out the best in yourself. Exchange helps members develop leadership, networking, and organizational skills that contribute to success in business, family and personal endeavors. More importantly, Exchange provides members with the opportunity to share their time and talents to help others, whether by reaching out to an abused child who needs love and affection or organizing a community crime prevention program or wielding rakes in a clean-up project. Through these and many other positive, public-spirited projects, Exchangites are making a real difference in cities and towns across Colorado and America.

More on Exchange’s Programs of Service

Exchange’s Program of Service is divided into the categories of Americanism, Community Service, Youth Programs and our national project, Child Abuse Prevention.

Americanism: Exchange Clubs work to promote pride in country, respect for the flag and other American symbols, appreciation of our freedoms and the costs of those freedoms. Exchange has taken on the responsibility of passing this knowledge to America’s next generation through its Americanism programs. These include: The Freedom Shrine, Freedom Gallery, One Nation Under God, Get Out The Vote, Proudly We Hail and GiveAKidAFlagToWave, Adopt-a-Unit/Family.
Community Service: Community Service is the lifeline of Exchange. Exchange Clubs across the country spend countless hours and dollars improving their communities each year. All of these activities share a common goal of serving and promoting our communities. These programs include: Crime Prevention, Fire Prevention, The Book of Golden Deeds Award, Service to Seniors and Law Enforcement/Firefighter Recognition.
Youth Programs: America’s young people are the country’s most precious resource. Exchange sponsors many activities designed to benefit, award and develop our nation’s youth. These programs include: Young Citizenship Award, EXCEL Clubs, Youth of the Month/Year Award and A.C.E. Award. Click here for samples of youth essays.
Child Abuse Prevention: The National Exchange Club develops and implements programs which seek to eliminate child abuse and strengthen families. These programs include: more than 100 Exchange Club Centers for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Shaken Baby Syndrome Awareness, Time Out Teddy, Blue Ribbon Campaign, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Awareness and Kidcode.
